Didsbury Arts Festival

Didsbury Arts festival is a volunteer led multi arts festival celebrating creative culture in Didsbury, through working with local, national and international artists.

We are a biennial festival. The next edition will take place from 22 June - 30 June 2019. The festival theme will be Roots. If you would like to join the 2019 team, please get in touch.

From the Gates of Hell to a grand Victorian railway hotel gone to the dogs, take a tour of Didsbury places and people – as you’ve never seen them before!

Six award-winning local writers are promising to bring you stories that are both right up your street and weirdly disconcerting. Specially commissioned for DAF 2017, the new works will each focus on familiar Didsbury settings transformed in the imaginations of their authors. Didsbury House Hotel, Didsbury Station and Ye Olde Cock Inn are among the six local landmarks to be given the gothic treatment. Another story setting, the Old Parsonage, is, also, the real-life location for this event, appropriately entitled Re/Place(d).

The authors include Elizabeth Baines, Nicholas Royle, Adrian Slatcher and Sarah Butler, whose event, Walking the Edge, was commissioned for DAF 2015. On the day before the reading, two of the project’s writers, flash fiction writer, Sarah-Clare Conlon, and David Gaffney, will also lead a creative writing workshop taking people and place as the starting point for inspiration. Find yourself in Didsbury!

Re/Place(d), 1 July, 7 pm, The Old Parsonage, Stenner Lane, Didsbury, M20 2RQ.

Workshop (£5) 30 June, 3 pm – 5 pm, The Old Parsonage.
